San Diegans for the Mt. Soledad National War Memorial led the massive citywide campaign to turn the site of the memorial, with its plaques and historic cross, into federal property where the cross would continue to serve a secular purpose as part of a national memorial protected under the Constitution of the United States. The organization is now raising money to cover legal costs and will pursue all legal avenues to keep the memorial, as it is, where it is.
